We bill the CPU-milliseconds your code spends running and the gigabytes it stores. Requests, database rows, storage operations and bandwidth are not counted on any plan, so the bill fits on a napkin before you run ribo deploy.

what we don't meter

requestsa Cell answers as many as it receives. There is no per-request fee and no daily request wall.
database rowsc3 reads and writes are uncounted. You pay for the bytes the database occupies, not for touching them.
storage operationsget, put and list against g7 are uncounted, however many you make.
egressbandwidth out is free on every plan, Spore included.
per-service minimumsdatabases and buckets carry no floor of their own. One plan price covers the platform.
cpu per requestno 30-second wall. A Cell can hold a long-running loop open, and you are billed for the CPU it burns rather than the wall-clock time it spends waiting.

past the included amount

Spore is a hard cap, not a meter: at the limit you upgrade rather than get billed. On Strand, extra CPU is $0.015 per million milliseconds, extra objects $0.015 per GiB-month and extra SQL $0.50 per GiB-month. On Colony those are $0.012, $0.012 and $0.40. Strand stores up to 100 GiB of objects and 25 GiB of SQL before it has to become Colony; Colony stops at 250 GiB and 100 GiB, and past that we write a contract.

Nothing is ever deleted. Cell, schedule and domain limits are checked at creation time, so an account over its limit — after a downgrade, say — keeps serving everything it already has and simply cannot add more until it is back under. Storage is checked on write: over the ceiling, writes stop and reads keep answering. An expired card does not mean deleted data.

what is a CPU-millisecond?unfoldfold

One millisecond your code spends on the processor. Time spent waiting — on a fetch, on a c3 query, on an API that takes nine seconds to answer — is not CPU time and is not billed. An agent loop that mostly waits costs very little, which is the workload the platform is built around.

do I need a card to start?unfoldfold

No. Spore is $0 with no card and no expiry date. Add one when you want a custom domain or more room, and not before.

can I bring my own domain?unfoldfold

Yes, from Strand up. Certificates are obtained and renewed for you. See Custom Domains in the docs for the DNS records.

can I change plans later?unfoldfold

Yes. The chooser is under Account → Plan in the dashboard, and payment details and cancellation are in the billing portal linked from the same page. Dropping to a smaller plan than what you have already built keeps all of it serving; you just cannot add more until you are back under the limit.

is sales tax included?unfoldfold

No. Prices are tax-exclusive, and checkout adds sales tax where we are registered to collect it — today that is Washington State.
